2010 Annual Interpretive Summary

Both the field and glasshouse components of this project have been completed, but as yet the harvest results have not been collated. In addition to yield and oil contents, grain N contents will be determined. The pot experiment showed a significant interaction between cultivar and the amount of applied N for N uptake, leaf N percentage, and plant dry matter. This suggests that the cultivars and species tested respond differently to N, and this has implications for N management, particularly for Brassica juncea.

Results from the field experiment are yet to be completely collated and analyzed for N, including an assessment of the comparative efficiency of the four cultivars in terms of accessing fertilizer or soil N, using 15N stable isotopes. ANZ-10
