Global Maize Project in México: Cd. Obregón
IPNI-2013-MEX-GM50

Project Description
The study started in October 2012 and is located in Cd. Obregón, State of Sonora. Maize has not been a traditional crop in that area, but the climate change models indicate a temperature increase that will be unfavorable to wheat (the most important crop) and could favor maize. Increasingly limiting water supplies suggest that more efficient use of water through a combination of conservation agriculture and drip irrigation is a requisite of a sustainably intensive alternative.
