Interaction of drip-applied potassium with soil nutrients

Assess the effect of drip applied potassium (K) as it interacts with other nuitrients

Objectives

Continue K fertilization trials initiated in 1986 for a third season to characterize the effects of rates and sources of applied K on tart cherry production. Determine the optimum relationship between K, Ca, and Mg, based on soil and tissue tests, to avoid nutrient imbalance resulting from K application. Use spring xylem sap nutrient levels to study antagonism of uptake of soil K with Ca and Mg, as well as uptake of chloride.
