Objectives

      1. Determine the significance of precise placement, deep-banded fertilizer for maximizing dryland cereal grain yields in conservation tillage systems in Montana.
      2. Compare conventional, surface-applied fertilization practices with concentrated, deep banding fertilization for dryland cereal grain production.
      3. Demonstrate the most effective use of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in dryland conservation tillage systems for cereal grains in Montana.
      4. Determine realistic maximum yield goals for dryland cereal grains in conservation tillage systems.
      5. Demonstrate the economic significance of well-defined fertilizer management for dryland conservation tillage systems.
