Objectives

    1. to examine the effect of high rates of P fertilizer on yield and quality of potatoes;
    2. to determine critical soil and tissue levels at which a response to P can be expected;
    3. to compare compost with mineral P fertilizer as a means of supplying P to potatoes;
    4. to determine what impact compost or manure applications have on the occurrence of diseases in potatoes;
    5. evaluate the usefulness of tissue analysis of potato petioles for P
    6. to develop a sustainable use for compost.
