2016 Annual Interpretive Summary

The project consists of first conducting a comprehensive literature review on enhanced-efficiency nitrogen (N) fertilizer products for research conducted in western Canada. The data will then be analyzed for an economic cost-benefit-analysis. Work on the literature review has progressed well, but much of the raw research data is still arriving and will be added to the project database. The greatest challenge in successfully completing this project will depend on the successful gathering of all the needed and expected research data from the cooperating scientists. There are a few researchers that are in the final process of submitting their results for peer-reviewed scientific publication, and will not be able to share the results until after paper publication. It is planned that the majority of the research data will be collected by May 2017. Agronomic yield data from the field research trials, along with prices of the various enhanced efficiency and regular N fertilizers, as well as equipment and labor costs will be used to develop overall cropping system budgets, comparing the various N fertilization products in the final report.
