1995 Annual Interpretive Summary

The effectiveness of iron-coated fertilizers on iron-deficient economical crops in Sichuan province, 1995

Iron (Fe) deficiencies reduce yields of peanut and peach. Evaluating the efficiency of Fe-amended fertilizers produced variable results but showed: peanuts fertilized at a rate of 150-45-150-31 kg/ha N-P2O5-K2O-magnesium (Mg) and supplied Fe-coated fertilizer produced only a slight yield increase while foliar applications depressed yield. Peach trees receiving 200 g/tree of Fe-coated fertilizer were unaffected in yield and correction of the deficiency. However, when 1 to 3 g Fe was implanted in the tree trunk, the deficiency symptom was corrected within 10 days. SICHUAN-10
