Study on Nutrient Management Technology for Vegetables in Wuhan

Over fertilization for vegetable in Wuhan is very serious problem. Therefore, supported by IPNI China program, the project cooperators in Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Science carried out this research project to study the better nutrient management strategy for the main vegetable crops in Wuhan region in recent years.

Project Description


Vegetable planting area in Wuhan reached 167,000 hectares with many different species and varieties, amount them eggplant and bolt rape are two of the main species with 4,000 ha eggplant and 6,500 ha bolt rape. The bolt rape occupied 50% of whole China. Farmers usually use compound fertilizer (15-15-15) and urea as commercial fertilizers for the vegetables and always unbalanced application fertilizers. To improve the fertilization efficiency and promote vegetable production in Wuhan region, the Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences created this project since 2012.
