Nutrient management strategies in Guizhou province, 1999

In Guizhou province, balanced fertilizer treatment with 150-100-250-35 kg N-P2O5-K2O-Zn/ha vs. farmer’s practice (K0) increased corn yield by 2790 kg/ha (26.8%) in Weiling county. In Changshun county, high K treatment (120 kg/ha) increased corn yield by 730 kg/ha or 5.24% vs. low K treatment (60kg/ha) and by 2490 kg/ha vs. K0 treatment. The treatment with 94-94-120-30-30 kg N-P2O5-K2O-ZnSO4-Borax/ha vs. farmer’s practice with 94-160-0 kg N-P2O5-K2O /ha in Luodian county increased kidney bean yield by 940 kg/ha (24.1%). This technology of balanced fertilization can be extended to 629.5 thousand ha of corn and 296 thousand ha of vegetables in Guizhou province. The estimated potential for increased K2O use per year on corn and vegetables can reach to 29 thousand tons (by 15% of increase per year). GUIZHOU-NMS05
