Nutrient management strategies project in Chongqing, 1999 The experiments were conducted on gray brown purple soil at Xinwan Village, Xiema Town and Lianhe Village, Beiquan Town, Beibei District. The soils were severe deficient in P and K. The balanced fertilizer treatment (284-200-240-Zn kg/ha) increased corn yield by 1305 kg/ha (21. 48%) over K0, 1965 kg/ha (36. 29%) over P0 and 975 kg/ha (15. 22%) over the farmer’s practice on the gray brown purple soil at Beiquan town.
