Conservation agriculture is being promoted as a sustainable intensification alternative for farmers in the Southwestern coast of Guatemala. Its adoption, however, has been limited, especially by those who grow maize and sesame as a relay cropping system. Growth of sesame, which is planted by the end of the maize growth cycle, has been affected by excess soil moisture when grown under conservation tillage agriculture. Read more
