Kenneth M Pretty Graduate Scholarship
In memory of Kenneth M. Pretty (OAC '51) a scholarship of $2,000 is awarded annually to a student in the Department of Land Resource Science (School of Environmental Sciences, University of Guelhph) who is conducting research in the area of plant nutrition or soil fertility. The recipient will be selected on the basis of high academic achievement. The funds are provided jointly by the late K.M. Pretty and by his former employer, The Phosphate Institute of Canada (now International Plant Nutrition Institute). Application is not required. Awarded annually to a student in the Department of Land Resource Science who is conducting research in the area of plant nutrition or soil fertility.

2016 Annual Interpretive Summary
In memory of Kenneth M. Pretty (OAC, 1951), a scholarship of $750 is awarded annually to a student in the School of Environmental Sciences, University of Guelph, who is conducting research in the area of plant nutrition or soil fertility. The recipient is selected on the basis of high academic achievement. The funds are provided jointly by the late Dr. K.M. Pretty and by the International Plant Nutrition Institute. Application is not required.
In 2016, the award was presented to Amy Pawlick, M.Sc. candidate, who is doing research on nitrate leaching with IPNI 4R Research cooperator Dr. Claudia Wagner-Riddle. IPNI Phosphorus Program Director Dr. Tom Bruulsema attended the awards banquet and discussed IPNI's mission and 4R Nutrient Stewardship, with her and several other scientists and students in soil fertility and soil chemistry.
