1996 Annual Interpretive Summary

The effectiveness of iron-coated fertilizers on iron-deficient economical crops in Sichuan province, 1996

A greenhouse evaluation of calcareous, sandy loam soils of Jianyang county indicated significant deficiencies in Fe, B, molybdenum (Mo), Mn, and Cu. Three different Fe-coated fertilizers were tested on peanut, citrus and peach. Initial results showed 12 to 33 percent yield increases in peanut due to Fe addition. Chelated fertilizer (FeEDDHA) was superior to all other forms applied. In citrus, leaf color was far better in soils treated with a combination of an Fe coated source plus elemental S. An additional year is required to completely quantify the yield advantages of Fe coated fertilizers on tree crops. SICHUAN-10
