Project Description

Potassium (K) plays a vital role in plant physiological and biochemical processes. K is important in cotton growth as it influences cell division and photosynthesis - formation of carbohydrates, translocation of sugars, mineral nutrients and photosynthesis matter. As limited K fertilizer resources and great demand of K fertilizer in China’s agricultural production, increasing K use efficiency and developing high K use efficient crop cultivars in the country has become more and more important in recent years. Therefore, Huazhong Agricultural University carried out this project to study the mechanisms of plant high K use efficiency with different cotton genotypes since 2010.
