Effect of sul-po-mag balanced fertilization on Litchi, 1999

Soil nutrient removal for 50 kg of Nuomici litchi fruit amounts to 115 g nitrogen (N), 45 g P2O5, 147 g K2O, 26 g calcium (Ca), 14 g Mg, and 8 g S. These nutrients need to be replenished to maintain good healthy growth and yield for litchi trees. Third year results indicate the best yield and economic return were achieved by supplying 525-210-656-52.5-105 g N-P2O5-K2O-Mg-S/plant/crop. A net profit of 141,900 Yuan, or US$17,300, was achieved with 17 t/ha yield in Shenzhen. A similar yield and net profit were earned in Huadu. In Dongguan, a yield of 28 t/ha achieved a net profit of 267,450 Yuan, or US$30,170. Both yield and pulp quality were improved by applying recommended rates of K, Mg and S rates as Sul-Po-Mag.
